Blessings: Autumn of 2025

Autumn Blessings invite us to pause in gratitude for the richness of our community, the generosity that brightens our shared life, and the enduring hope that guides us as Wheaton Franciscans. May this season remind us of God’s presence in all things.

Sister Rosie Retirement

After 20 faithful years of service in the Treasurer’s Office, we joyfully celebrated Sister Rosie Stewart’s retirement at the end of August. Her steady dedication, careful stewardship, and compassionate presence have blessed our community in countless ways. We send her forth with deep gratitude and every blessing for the journey ahead.

Jesse Manibusan Concert

We celebrated the Season of Creation with an uplifting afternoon of music, storytelling, and prayer led by Jesse Manibusan on September 7. The auditorium came alive with song and Spirit, drawing us together in the joy of Franciscan community. It was a beautiful reminder of how faith can inspire creativity.

Assisi Departure and Pilgrimage

In September, we gathered to bless and send forth a group of Wheaton Franciscan pilgrims—including Sisters, Covenant Companions, Our Lady of the Angels staff, and their spouses—on a 10-day journey to Assisi and Rome. Immersed in the sacred landscapes of St. Francis and St. Clare, the pilgrims experienced a profound encounter and connection with our Franciscan roots. Their journey reminds us that pilgrimage continues to shape our hearts long after we return home.

Pet Blessing

The Season of Creation concluded joyfully with a Pet Blessing held on the Feast of St. Francis at OLA. Companions of every kind—furry, feathered, and even scaley—were welcomed to receive a blessing. Witnessing the delight and tenderness shared between people and their beloved animals reminded us of God’s love for all creatures.

Campus Pilgrimage

Community members joined us for our Pilgrimage of Hope Campus Walk, pausing at various areas around campus for prayer, song, and reflection. This shared pilgrimage strengthened our commitment to walk gently, courageously, and compassionately with all who seek hope.

Employee Recognition Luncheon

Each November, Sisters and Our Lady of the Angels Associates gather for a Thanksgiving luncheon to honor staff who have reached five-year milestones of service. This year, we celebrated seven dedicated individuals whose steadfast commitment and joyful presence embody Wheaton Franciscan values. Hearing their stories, learning about their contributions, and sharing a meal together reminded us how essential each person is to our mission. We offer heartfelt thanks to our honorees—and to all our staff—for the extraordinary work you do each day.
