October & November 2025 Collaborator: Other Purposes

Through prayer, relationship-building and sharing of resources, the Wheaton Franciscans collaborate with organizations whose mission and priorities are similar to ours. We focus primarily on the following areas: care of creation; health and dental in underserved areas; refugees and immigrants; women and children in vulnerable situations; and other purposes that align with our values. We are currently connected to nearly 100 organizations.

ASN Upendo Village

Naivasha, Kenya

ASN Upendo Village is a project of the Assumption Sisters of Nairobi (ASN), implemented in partnership with the Wheaton Franciscan Sisters. The project is located in Karai, Naivasha, within the Catholic Diocese of Nakuru. Its core mandate is to respond to the challenges of HIV and AIDS by providing comprehensive services that address both medical and social needs.

Key interventions include the provision of basic health care, home-based care, community education, voluntary counseling and testing, educational sponsorship, nutritional supplementation, and psychosocial support. A major component of ASN Upendo Village’s work is nutritional supplementation, designed to mitigate the effects of HIV and AIDS and to address opportunistic infections such as tuberculosis, malaria, Herpes Zoster (shingles), and pneumonia. In addition, the project monitors children born to HIV-positive mothers. This initiative systematically documents health outcomes in order to evaluate and improve the success rate of preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV.

For it is in giving that we receive.
