May & June 2025 Collaborator: Refugees & Immigrants

Through prayer, relationship-building and sharing of resources, the Wheaton Franciscans collaborate with organizations whose mission and priorities are similar to ours. We focus primarily on the following areas: care of creation; health and dental in underserved areas; refugees and immigrants; women and children in vulnerable situations; and other purposes that align with our values. We are currently connected to nearly 100 organizations.

Quixote Center

Greenbelt, Maryland

The Quixote Center partners with the Franciscan Network on Migration, which coordinates the work of Franciscan-run shelters in Mexico and Central America. The primary beneficiaries of this partnership are migrants crossing through Central America and Mexico. The top sending countries are: Honduras, Haiti, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Cuba, Venezuela. In 2018, the Center launched a program focused on migration justice. The humanitarian portion of the program is centered in Mexico and the education and advocacy efforts have the aim of ending detention of migrants and restoring paths to asylum for those who need it.

For it is in giving that we receive.
