My Joy and Blessing
by Marilyn Ladone, Covenant Companion

My joy is my eight grandchildren who all live near me. Here they are, from the left: Nolan (14), Matthew (18), Madeline (15), Max (15), Corinne (15), Cole (15), Jake (14), and Lauren (18).
Throughout the years, I got to go to their sports events, band and orchestra concerts, show choir, and school plays, as well as celebrate birthdays and holidays with them. I appreciate that they take risks, like trying out for plays, musicals, and show choir. I am touched by the fact that they all play musical instruments, except for Corinne who takes voice lessons and loves to sing.
Lauren, besides playing the viola, has taken Irish dance lessons for many years. Corinne thinks she would like to be a veterinarian and volunteers at Cosley Zoo to get experience with animals. Madeline is interested in becoming a teacher. She interviewed and got a job teaching “little ones” swimming at Northside Pool this past summer. I don’t think I was thinking that far ahead when I was their age!
Max is working toward being an Eagle Scout. Cole plays percussion, has a photographic memory, and was reading at 3 years old. Jake and Nolan both play trumpet and run cross country. In addition, Jake plays volleyball and Nolan plays basketball. There is nothing so exciting for me as to watch my senior grandson, Matthew, play football or basketball. I have had the pleasure of doing that for the last four years!
It has been a great blessing to see all my grandchildren grow and develop their talents!
Thanks so much for sharing your joy at watching and supporting your grandchildren’s development and growth as they become more fully themselves each day. What a blessing they are to you and to our world. May they be showered with grace as they become the leaders for our planet’s future!
