June 2023 Collaborator: Refugees & Immigrants

Through prayer, relationship-building and sharing of resources, the Wheaton Franciscans collaborate with organizations whose mission and priorities are similar to ours. We focus primarily on the following areas: care of creation; health and dental in underserved areas; refugees and immigrants; women and children in vulnerable situations; and other purposes that align with our values. We are currently connected to nearly 100 organizations.

Catholic Charities-Archdiocese of Milwaukee

Milwaukee, WI

Founded in 1920, Catholic Charities-Archdiocese of Milwaukee’s mission is “to provide service to those in need, to advocate for justice and to call upon others to do the same”. Their priority is to serve people affected by poverty throughout the 10 counties of southeast Wisconsin, including refugees and immigrants. Their Refugee and Immigration Services’ (RIS) program-specific mission is to help immigrants living in poverty obtain full and equal citizenship in the United States. Full and equal citizenship means lawful status, eventual citizenship, and an understanding of the tools necessary to build a stable and happy life in their new country. The agency strives to help immigrants maintain their cultural identity while learning to wholly participate in the life of their new country.

For it is in giving that we receive.
