St. Jules Clinic and Mary Maternity Center
Haiti
Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and has the worst water quality in the world. Since 1994 the Immaculate Conception (Clarksville, TN)/St. Jules (Haiti) Ministry has provided a primary care clinic in very rural Northwest Haiti in the small village of Petit Bourg du Borgne. Because of some significant Obstetrical emergencies, they built a Maternity Center on the site of the clinic which has the only obstetrician/ gynecologist in the region. The OB/ GYN/Primary Care clinic is very busy with 50 to 60 patients a day. They deliver babies (3 to 4 infants a day) and provide cesarean section services for those women who need it. St Jules clinic and the Mary Maternity Center serve a total of 65,000 patients.
