Through prayer, relationship-building and sharing of resources, the Wheaton Franciscans collaborate with organizations whose mission and priorities are similar to ours. We focus primarily on the following areas: care of creation; health and dental in underserved areas; refugees and immigrants; women and children in vulnerable situations; and other purposes that align with our values. We are currently connected to nearly 100 organizations.

Refugee Resettlement Program – Loom Project
Chicago, IL
For many years, the Refugee Resettlement Program of the Catholic Charities in Chicago has assisted people who are unable to return to their home countries due to persecution or repression. The Program helps these refugees make the transition to independence and become self-sufficient, contributing members of their communities. In August 2013, the Refugee Resettlement Program launched the Loom Project. This Project is a social enterprise composed of refugee women artisans who create functional art, one-of-a-kind objects, clothing, and accessories. At Loom, they form a supportive community, learn from each other and local artists, earn income, and empower themselves as they adjust to a new country and culture.
