We give thanks for the immense blessings within our community at the start of the year!
Indonesian Sisters Offertory Dance
In January, it was time to say farewell to Indonesian Sisters Imeldine Pasaribu and Auxiline Pakpahan, who arrived in August to learn English and to experience more of our congregation’s spirituality and culture. In addition, we welcomed Sister Tarcisia Lumbanslantar from the Indonesian Province to develop her English and communications skills, as well as her new role as Congregational Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation Coordinator. We were blessed to share in their own cultural and spiritual practice through their offertory dance.
Paczki Day and Mardi Gras
On February 13th, Sisters and Associates gathered in celebration of Fat Tuesday! We let the good times roll while enjoying paczki, King’s Cakes, and quality time together.
BE Love Day
On Saturday, March 2, Sisters, Covenant Companions, and members of the Wheaton Franciscan Faith Community participated in BE Love Day at the Illinois Community for Displaced Persons (ICDP) and Feed My Starving Children. Our volunteers sorted through clothing donations, packed meals, and assembled packages for men, women, and children in need. We cherish these opportunities to be a blessing in a our community.
Catholic Sisters Week
From March 8-14, we celebrated Catholic Sisters Week and the incredible contributions of Women Religious within our communities. The theme we chose – “Celebrating Traditions, Changing the World” – highlighted the Sisters’ unwavering commitment to building a better future.
On Friday, March 8, the Sisters and Wheaton Franciscan Community gathered for prayer and reflection at our Taizé Service in the Chapel. As Catholic Sisters Week continued, we shared the Sisters continuing efforts toward a brighter world with the Lenten Donation Drive, resources to decrease textile waste, and encouraging communication.
We extend our deepest gratitude and admiration to Catholic Sisters for their tireless dedication and selfless service in communities around the world.
When working with the Sisters, your love and guidance have been a constant source of strength and inspiration for me. Your dedication to serving others and living out the values of faith is truly admirable. Thank you for your many years of efforts in making our communities brighter, kinder, and more compassionate. Everyone has been in our thoughts and prayers! Wishing everyone a blessed and happy Catholic Sisters Week!
