Through prayer, relationship-building and sharing of resources, the Wheaton Franciscans collaborate with organizations whose mission and priorities are similar to ours. We focus primarily on the following areas: care of creation; health and dental in underserved areas; refugees and immigrants; women and children in vulnerable situations; and other purposes that align with our values. We are currently connected to nearly 100 organizations.

Homeless Assistance Leadership Organization Incorporated (HALO)
Racine, WI
HALO is the only general homeless shelter in Racine County, Wisconsin. There are two separate areas at the shelter-one for men only and one for women, children and families. Each client is assigned a case manager who facilitates an individualized process that allows a person to leave shelter with access to permanent housing and community resources. In addition to their shelter services, HALO operates 31 units of scattered site permanent supportive housing for persons who are disabled and homeless at the time they enter the program. HALO’s approach is based on the “Trauma-Informed Care” model, which involves skilled staff delivering a client-centered approach to resolving issues and needs. Basic needs, including food, clothing and personal hygiene products are provided to all who come to shelter.
