March 2023 Collaborator: Refugees & Immigrants

Through prayer, relationship-building and sharing of resources, the Wheaton Franciscans collaborate with organizations whose mission and priorities are similar to ours. We focus primarily on the following areas: care of creation; health and dental in underserved areas; refugees and immigrants; women and children in vulnerable situations; and other purposes that align with our values. We are currently connected to nearly 100 organizations.

Casa Esperanza Community Center

Melrose Park, IL

Founded in 1994, Casa Esperanza Community Center at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel provides comprehensive services to achieve a safe and supportive community where individuals and families can reach their fullest potential. Their mission is to help residents overcome the cycle of poverty and homelessness by providing a safe, stable home and a caring community. Their programming offers opportunities for personal, social and professional development.  This fosters independence, helping women achieve self-sufficiency through counseling, holistic workshops and skills-based training. Their programs support immigrants, underserved, and high-need non-English speakers.

For it is in giving that we receive.
