“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” -Jerimiah 29:11
Dear Friends,
As you know, plans are being implemented for a phased in approach to “restore Illinois.” A multi-phase plan for re-opening churches is also in the works. The Wheaton Franciscans are also thoughtfully planning “what might be next” as the State of Illinois and the country move out of the “safe at home” phase of the battle against COVID-19.
Currently, Our Lady of the Angels Motherhouse, Chapel, and Tau Center are closed, and non-essential staff are working remotely, if they are able. We continue to have thoughtful and deliberate conversations regarding the health and safety of our sisters in residence (admittedly a more vulnerable population), our essential personnel, and those we serve.
As a continued expression of our love and care for one another and with ultimate safety and security in mind, the Wheaton Franciscan Motherhouse and Chapel will remain closed through June, July, and August. No visitors will be allowed in the building during this time. A decision regarding reopening will depend upon the health and safety practices in place at the time, as well as well as guidance of public health authorities.
Our Lady of the Angels/Wheaton Franciscan Motherhouse is the residence of 14 of our Sisters. It is also the place the Sisters who live off-campus, as well as and Covenant Companions call home. It is a place of employment for over 60 people, and it is a place of peace, tranquility, learning, and transformation for our faith community and Tau Center participants. The health, safety, and well-being of our sisters, covenant companions, staff, faith-community, friends, and family is, and will continue to be, at the forefront of our decisions.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to take steps to protect and support one another. We ask for your continued cooperation and support during these challenging times. Please know that we are continuously looking for ways to engage with you and to support your faith life. We miss you and look forward to the day we can be together again. Reach out to us through our website or email connect@wfsisters.org. Follow us on Social Media. Know that you are always on our minds and in our hearts.
Please continue to hold us in prayer as we continue to hold you in prayer during this time of challenging time. Together in spirit (although not physically) may we continue to be a Blessing in the Heart of the World.
