Covenant Companions

Are you interested in going deeper in your spiritual journey? Do you yearn for a loving and vital community where you can be of service? Perhaps Covenant Companionship is in your future.

“I choose to be a Covenant Companion because I feel spiritually nourished, loved, and accepted, and the relationships and experiences I have encountered within this rich community encourage, support, and energize me on my journey.”

Shirley Justin-Wolff, Covenant Companion since 2009

Enrich Your Spirit

Covenant Companionship is a unique way of belonging to the Wheaton Franciscan community. It is a formal and public commitment to live a Gospel way of life following the example of St. Francis, St. Clare, and Mother Clara Pfaender.

Covenant Companions are of all ages and faiths and from all walks of life. We share in and embrace the spirit of the Wheaton Franciscan charism within our lives so that together we may be peace, transformation, hope, and healing in the world.

What We Do

Embrace the mission and charism of the Wheaton Franciscans

Build a vibrant community… we are all one

Deepen our relationship with God through contemplation and action

Respond to the needs of our times

Live in right relationship with the earth and her people

In harmony with the sisters, we celebrate, worship, study, have fun, share our stories, reflect, offer service, and care for each other and people in need. We live our covenant every day to be a blessing in the heart of the world.

“I choose to be a Covenant Companion because I witnessed the love and joy between the Sisters and Covenant Companions, and I wanted to share that experience with them.”

Tom Ruggaber, Covenant Companion since 2015
