January & February 2026 Collaborator: Care of Creation

Through prayer, relationship-building and sharing of resources, the Wheaton Franciscans collaborate with organizations whose mission and priorities are similar to ours. We focus primarily on the following areas: care of creation; health and dental in underserved areas; refugees and immigrants; women and children in vulnerable situations; and other purposes that align with our values. We are currently connected to nearly 100 organizations.

Poor Household of God: OIKOS PTOCHOS TOU THEOU Village Gardening and Greenhouse Project

Oikos Village, Philippines

The Poor Household of God Sisters are a Franciscan community in the Philippines who have been living and organizing with the poor in the Oikos Community for over 15 years. Oikos Village, where this project is located, is home to 16 low-income families. The Sisters developed a gardening project that has evolved into full-time lettuce production using a combination of hydroponic and traditional organic farming methods. The project benefits families in the village and surrounding communities by providing livelihood training, hands-on experience with light gardening machinery, and education in environmental stewardship and care for creation.

For it is in giving that we receive.
