Celebrating 60 Years of Religious Life
Sister Dawn was drawn to the Franciscan way of life through her experiences with Franciscans who taught in her home parish. To her, “they felt like extended family.” She entered religious life in 1964 and ten years later transferred into the Wheaton Franciscan Community. Throughout her time as a woman religious, Sister Dawn has contributed immensely to education ministries, helping students of all ages, from Kindergarten to university, as a teacher, department chair, faculty assistant, coordinator and more.
In addition to her role as an educator, she continued her studies by earning a Masters Degree from St. Bonaventure University in New York City, as well attending the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation in Washington D.C. and Cardinal Stritch University in Wisconsin. Since 1979, Sister Dawn has been a Spiritual Directress in DeKalb and Milwaukee, as well as Tau Center. When asked about her favorite ministry, she answered, “I have enjoyed all of the ministerial opportunities that I have been given. However, the relationships I fostered while living in DeKalb, Illinois were among my most cherished.”
Congratulations on your 60th Jubilee anniversary! Your faith and dedication are an inspiration to us all.
How would you like to be remembered?
I would like to be remembered in relationship to the long line of good women familial and religious, who have preceded me – “strong, loving, and free.”
Sister Dawn
