An Easter Season Reflection
Return to Journey Together: Called To Be Love resource page
Weekly Verse
Children, let us love not in word or speech but in deed and truth.
1 John 3:18
Words of Wisdom
Revolutionary love is a well-spring of care, an awakening to the inherent dignity and beauty of others and the earth, a quieting of the ego, a way of moving through the world in relationship, asking: ‘What is your story? What is at stake? What is my part in your flourishing?’ Loving others, even our opponents, in this way has the power to sustain political, social and moral transformation. This is how love changes the world.
Valerie Kaur, See No Stranger
I counsel, admonish, and exhort my brothers [and sisters] in the Lord Jesus Christ not to quarrel or argue or judge others when they go about the world, but let them be meek, peaceful, modest, gentle, and humble, speaking courteously to everyone, as is becoming. Into whatever house they enter, let them first say: “Peace be to this house.”
St. Francis of Assisi, Early Rule
Prayer
God of Love, through the example of St. Francis, St. Clare, and all holy people of goodwill, help me to quiet my ego and recognize the inherent beauty and dignity of others and Mother Earth. May my love help transform the world. Amen.
