Through prayer, relationship-building and sharing of resources, the Wheaton Franciscans collaborate with organizations whose mission and priorities are similar to ours. We focus primarily on the following areas: care of creation; health and dental in underserved areas; refugees and immigrants; women and children in vulnerable situations; and other purposes that align with our values. We are currently connected to nearly 100 organizations.

Roots and Wings Urban Initiative
Angelic Organics Learning Center is an educational organization which annually engages more than 5,000 farmers, shareholders, and community members in farming and in emerging local food systems in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. Roots and Wings Urban Initiative, a program of Angelic Organics Learning Center, operates a community-supported agriculture (CSA) urban farm in the midst of a majority Black community. This community, the Rockford Housing Authority (RHA) development known as Blackhawk Courts, is situated in one of Rockford, Illinois’ food deserts. Roots and Wings is a program led by Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) which seeks assistance to expand its missions of vegetable production, educational outreach, urban farm movement leadership, and food justice.
