Covenant Companion Advent Retreat 2023

Covenant Companions reflect on the Eucharist

Sr. Dawn helped the CCs examine personal perceptions of the Eucharist and its power in their lives

On December 2, 2023, Covenant Companions (CCs) – including five new CCs – gathered at Our Lady of the Angels to learn about the meaning and history of the Eucharist for their Advent retreat. Sister Dawn Capilupo engagingly presented a wide range of concepts as well as the historical evolution of the sacrament, using charming photos of children and personal stories to make the morning a memorable event.

She illustrated how the Eucharistic meal transforms communities, uniting people as they connect to the Risen One. Noting that Jesus was scandalously inclusive, no one is turned away from this life-giving meal. Every time individuals receive the Eucharist, they are called to service in the pursuit of justice for all God’s people.

After the presentation, attending CCs met in small groups to reflect on what makes a good liturgy and ways they feel alive when they participate in the Eucharist. The day closed with a lively lunch, where everyone had an opportunity to visit, laugh, and welcome the new CCs during this special season of Advent.

I would lie to contact Sr Dawn to invite her to speak the the religious Associates of the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago.

I’d be most grateful if you would forward my email address to Sr. Dawn.
