China’s peace proposal to end the Russia/Ukraine war

From Sr. Bea Hernandez, JPIC Coordinator:

On February 24, the government of China released a 12-point peace proposal to end the Russia/Ukraine war.  The document is short and, of course, the details are not included in the proposal.  As written, the proposal has received initially a cautious positive reception by both President Putin of Russia and President Zelensky of Ukraine.  As we continue to pray for peace, let us also hope that all parties involved in this conflict will give this proposal a fair hearing so that a cease fire may eventual be agreed to.

This is a necessary first step towards peace.  A battlefield victory is not likely to result in lasting peace and much more suffering will make peace more difficult.
