Our 2023 Lenten Journey

Let Us Begin Again: Creating a Flourishing Future for All

Lenten Journey Reflection and Action Guide 2023

Lent is an invitation to pause, pray, fast, and act as we return again and again to God with our whole hearts. All of our prayers and all of our actions (and inaction) impact the rest of creation.

Beginning February 26th, we invite you to join us each week on a journey of prayer, fasting, and discovering works of mercy that support a flourishing future for all.

Prayer

Loving and compassionate God,
teach us to show love and mercy to each other.
As we begin our journey through Lent, inspire us to be generous and kind.
May we help build a flourishing future for God’s creation through our joy, patience, and kindness.
Amen.

Fast From the use of single-use plastic. Each week we ask you to focus on reducing or refusing to use a specific type of single-use plastic.

Give To organizations that feed the hungryFor I was hungry, and you gave me food… Matthew 25:35. Join us in feeding the hungry by giving financial support to the international Feed the Need program and regional Community gardens which increase access to fresh, healthy, and affordable food in underserved areas.

Works of Mercy address the immediate needs of individuals and contribute to the overall improvement of society to reduce the likelihood that our neighbors will find themselves in distress or poverty.

In addition to prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, we invite you to learn more about the organizations we support and additional ways of changing our behaviors to eliminate the harmful effects of single-use plastics on our environment.

Love is shown by little things, by attention to small daily signs which make us feel at home.
