Lent 2026 – Ash Wednesday

BE Attentive

Return to Our 2026 Lent Resource Page

Even now, says the LORD, return to me with your whole heart.
Joel 2:12

Our Lenten focus this year is Transformed through Hope: BE Attentive, inspired by the song “Wisdom, Wisdom” by songwriter Lori True.

Wisdom is a divine gift of the Holy Spirit that enables us to see—to be attentive to life—from God’s eyes and ears and to respond to the world through the heart of God.

True wisdom does not necessarily come with age or advanced education. Rather, it begins with trust in God and calls us to “return to God with our whole heart” again and again. It invites us to slow down and to let go of whatever distracts us from God’s dream of a more loving, kind, and compassionate world.

Let Us Pray

Holy One, thank you for inviting us to return to you again. Give us the courage and the humility to Be Attentive to your dream for the world. Help us to be aware of the hurt our behavior may cause others and our common home. Help us to let go of the fear and resentment that keep us from being people of peace and nonviolence. Give us the strength to be loving, kind, and compassionate despite our human failures.

Reflection Questions / Practices

  1. As you begin your 2026 Lenten journey, write down what you need to be attentive to now. What do you need to let go of?
  2. What is one action you can take to fulfill God’s dream of a more loving, kind, and compassionate world?
