For Love of Neighbor- Update – August 2021

As promised, we are writing with an update regarding the opening of Our Lady of the Angels to the public. Because of the data showing the surging number Covid cases related to the highly contagious delta variant, the Regional Leadership Team and administrative leaders for Our Lady of the Angels have determined that it best serves the safety and welfare of our community to remain closed to the public for the foreseeable future. This includes the regional administrative offices, Chapel, and Tau Center.

We have always prioritized the safety of our community, and in these uncertain times, this is no different. We also know that we are part of a larger community and want to do our part to reduce opportunities for the virus to spread, not only to protect our community, but to protect those we serve. We choose to take our call to be a blessing in the heart of the world seriously. We honor this call locally and globally when we seek ways to help mitigate the impact of the virus by reducing exposure. That’s why we are practicing and enforcing best practices. For staff serving Our Lady of the Angels this includes mandatory vaccinations, wearing a mask in all areas of the building except private offices, and social distancing.

We miss you and we miss our gatherings. We look forward to the day we can be together again. Until that time, we encourage you to stay safe and to “love your neighbor” by wearing a mask, practicing safe social distancing, and, if eligible, getting a vaccine. As Pope Francis reminds us, it “is an act of love. Love for oneself, love for our families and friends.”

We invite you to actively engage with us through our Season of Creation activities, live-stream services, and outdoor Mass (weather permitting). Let us know how we can support you on your spiritual journey.  Reach out to us through our website www.wheatonfranciscan.org or email connect@wfsisters.org

Please continue to hold us in prayer as we continue to hold you in prayer. Know that you are always on our minds and in our hearts.

Together in spirit may we continue to be a Blessing in the Heart of the World.
