DESCRIPTION:Join together in community to clear invasive species from the Loyola University Retreat and Ecology Campus LUREC located in Woodstock\, IL. Our morning will begin with training to recognize invasive species\, followed by two sessions in the field.  \n\n\n\nThe bus will leave OLA at Entrance 5 at 7:30 a.m. and arrive at the center at 9:00 a.m. Lunch is provided followed by an afternoon session. We will depart by 3:00 p.m.\, returning to OLA by 4:30 p.m. Participants must be high school age or older. High school-aged participants must be accompanied by an adult. \n\n\n\nThis event is co-sponsored by the Wheaton Franciscan Season of Creation team and the Loyola University young adult team for Care of Creation.     \n\n\n\n\nSPACE IS LIMITED\n\n\n\nRegistration required by September 1st\n\n\n\nTo register\, email us at: connect@wfsisters.org\n\n\n\nLimit 25 people

DESCRIPTION:Presentation and Thanksgiving Blessing\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister For This Event\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for a Presentation and Thanksgiving Blessing from Members of the Q’ero Nation: Descendants of the Inkas in southeast Peru.  \n\n\n\n\n\nDoors will open at 5:30 p.m. \n\n\n\nPart 1 – Presentation of Q’ero Way of Life ~  6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. \n\n\n\nPart 2 – Q’ero Thanksgiving Ritual ~ 7:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. \n\n\n\nHandmade weaving by the Q’ero people will be available for sale. 100% of the profits go directly to the Q’ero\, providing a much-needed source of income due to their remote location in the mountains. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is a presentation by elders of the Q’ero Nation and their translator\, traveling through the United States to share stories of their life in the remote villages of the Q’ero people\, located in the upper elevation of the snowcapped Vilcanota mountain range. The mountains surrounding the Q’ero are mostly 22\,000 foot ice peaks with their village at 14\,500 feet elevation in the Andes mountains. Ricardo received his first initiation at only 8 years old at the Andean Mecca of Q’ollorit’i and has been on the Paqo path ever since. Trained by his father and immersed in the tradition\, Ricardo is one of the most sincere people you could ever meet. He works as a ceremonial Paqo\, Healer\, and Coca Leaf reader with his two brothers. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDon Francisco Apaza Flores from Qolpa Kucho\, Hatun Q’eros\n\n\n\nDon Francisco is the eldest son of Don Mariano Apaza and was fully trained by his father along with his two brothers\, Ricardo and Juan. The brothers retain the Misha of their father\, enshrined in their Q’ero home of Qolpa Kucho\, and have built a Yachay Wasi (wisdom house) where they plan to teach their ancestral wisdom to future travelers. Francisco has practiced Coca Leaf reading for over 25 years and is an acknowledged master at Coca Divination and Healing. Francisco embodies the calming presence and patience of a mountain. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nElizabeth B. Jenkins born in Manhattan\, New York\n\n\n\nElizabeth B. Jenkins MA\, MFT is a Mom\, Organic Farmer\, 35-year student of Inka Nature Wisdom held by the Q’ero Nation of Peru\, and international best-selling author of three books on Inka Nature Wisdom. She founded the Wiraqocha Foundation in 1996. In January 2021\, she founded the Global Paqo School to employ the Q’ero Masters during the pandemic. Also\, she co-founded the Q’ero Wayruroni Association to serve the Q’ero communities in Peru better. She resides with her yanantin Barney\, on her organic coffee and macadamia nut farm on the Big Island of Hawai`i\, where she collaborates with Native Hawaiian elders and the magical Volcanic Island forces of Nature.

SUMMARY:St. Clare Garden Labyrinth Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we celebrate the opening of the new St. Clare Garden on the grounds of Our Lady of the Angels Campus! The St. Clare Garden Self-guided Labyrinth Walk begins at 11:30 am following the 10:30 am Mass. This special event is one of a few to honor  and celebrate the completion of the St. Clare Garden. No registration is required; open to our Faith Community. Hard copies of the guide are available at the chapel.  \n\n\n\nYou can also download the guided here. \n\n\n\nThe  St. Clare Garden offers a place of stillness and serenity as a compliment to the Peace Path and Cosmic Walk currently located on the grounds of Our Lady of the Angels.  Amenities include:  Shade Patio\, Labyrinth\, Waterfall\, Lawn Area\, Firepit Patio and Contemplative Spaces.

All are welcome as we learn about the extraordinarily ordinary human lives of St. Francis of Assisi and St. Clare of Assisi from Capuchin Franciscan Friar Father John Petrikovic. \n\n\n\nThis in-person Franciscan retreat offers the opportunity to explore other valuable aspects of the lives of Francis and Clare\, and we will spend time considering what we actually value – and what we don’t. \n\n\n\nRegistration Open from Monday\, June 19th – Monday\, July 30th \n\n\n\n\nRegister for the Retreat\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Presenter:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJohn Petrikovic\, OFM Cap.\, is a Capuchin Franciscan friar priest in the Ministry of Preaching\, offering workshops on Franciscan topics\, mission formation for Franciscan Health Systems\, retreats to Religious Men and Women in the English-speaking world and parish missions throughout the United States. \n\n\n\nShow more\n\n\n\nJohn holds a BA in Counseling Psychology (1975)\, an MA in Liturgical Theology (1980)\, an MA in Franciscan Studies (1986) and an STL from Rome’s Antonianum University in Spirituality (1996). John served his Province in initial formation of friars from 1981-1995\, teaching in the Religious Studies Department of Borromeo Seminary in Cleveland\, OH\, from 1982-1990 and on the staff of his Province’s novitiate from 1990-1995. After studies in Rome and two terms as Secretary to his Provincial Minister in Pittsburgh\, PA\, he was called by the Order to serve as Vice Rector\, Prefect of Studies and Liturgical Director of the Collegio San Lorenzo\, the International House of Graduate Studies for the Capuchin Franciscan Order in Rome (2004-2010).An avid musician\, animating Liturgies for both National and International gatherings of Friars and Sisters\, John was a regular contributor to Weekday & Sunday Homily Helps (1983-2018) for Franciscan Media (formerly St. Anthony Press) and serves on the staff of the Franciscan Pilgrimages Program which provides pilgrimage and study experiences in Assisi and Rome\, Italy.John is a member of the St. Augustine Province of the Capuchin Franciscans (serving the Middle Atlantic States) and resides with three other friars at St. Fidelis Friary\, Beaver\, PA. He also serves as Archivist for his Province and as the administrator of his Province’s website\, capuchin.com. \n\n\n\nShow less\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMore about the Franciscan Day Retreat:\n\n\n\n\nIt was written that Francis of Assisi could be heard in prayer asking “Who are you\, Lord\, and who am I?” Clare of Assisi would use the word “ineffable” (inexpressible\, indefinable) when contemplating the Lord’s love and poverty. \n\n\n\nShow more\n\n\n\nIn both cases\, their Franciscan journeys are marked by Mystery. We search to “know God\,” even while we cannot understand. It doesn’t mean that God can “never” be known; but it does mean that we come to know more in time\, in an eternal unfolding of our lives in relationship with the things and people we encounter on a pilgrim way.When Abraham promised ‘fidelity’ to a Covenant with a personal God\, he surely had no idea what he was “in for.” God’s promise is fulfilled in Jesus Christ who invites those who ‘follow him’ into a relationship which finds unfolds its meaning by experience. Like the first disciples\, we are never quite sure what we’re “in for” either.The retreat explores Scripture’s challenge to fidelity\, to courage and to hope while we allow our God of the Incarnation to remain a Mystery – grasping to understand\, as time unravels\, that we do not fully understand. Taking the Incarnation seriously can show us the way\, as it did for Francis and Clare.
