“Christian community is the place where we keep the flame of hope alive among us and take it seriously so that it can grow and become stronger in us.” — Henri J. M. Nouwen

LIVING THE GOSPEL LIFE OF LOVE

We are the St. Clare Regional Community of an international congregation, the Franciscan Sisters, Daughters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary.

We are a community of vowed sisters and covenant companions (lay women and men), who live the Gospel in the spirit of St. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi, and our foundress Mother M. Clara Pfaender. Through our shared commitment to Franciscan contemplative presence and gospel service, we are collectively known as Wheaton Franciscan Community.

We are a welcoming community of faith striving to be a blessing in the heart of the world.  We invite you to join us as seekers – in prayer – in worship – in personal growth – in mission – in community.

Wheaton Franciscan Vision Prayer

With Brother Francis, Sister Clare, and Mother Clara,

we humbly pray

to be a blessing in the heart of the world.

O Holy Mystery,

Open our eyes to recognize that All are One.

Open our ears to hear the cry of Earth,

our common home.

Open our minds to learn from Creation’s diversity.

Open our hearts to be a Presence

of peace and reconciliation.

Open our hands to serve in Love,

meeting the needs of our time.

Open our lives to engage contemplatively

the emerging Future.

In the Spirit of St. Clare:

What we hold, may we always hold,

What we do, may we always do

           and never abandon.

Amen.

OUR MISSION

In the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi and our foundress Clara Pfaender, the mission of the St. Clare Regional Community is to live the gospel life, discovered in prayer and community. Through loving presence and service, we foster personal and community growth as we respond to the needs of the church and the times.

OUR STORY

These milestones hold our most treasured photos and documents. We have a rich history of responding to the needs of a constantly changing society, with a particular preference for serving the poor.
