Living the Gospel Life through Prayer and Community
Through loving presence and service we foster personal and community growth as we respond to the needs of the church and the times.
!! UPDATE IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT – 04/01/2020 !!
Wheaton Franciscan Motherhouse and Chapel Closed Until Further Notice
The Wheaton Franciscan Community seeks to be a welcoming community of faith striving together to be instruments of peace, hope and justice in our world today. Along with the rest of the world, we continue to do our part to mitigate the impact of the novel coronavirus: COVID-19, particularly to those most vulnerable.
In compliance with the State of Illinois mandatory “Stay at Home” order, the Wheaton Franciscan Motherhouse, Chapel, and Tau Spirituality Center will be closed to the public. These restrictions have been extended and now remain in place until April 30, 2020 or otherwise notified by the Governor. Until further notice, all Sunday and daily Masses are closed to the public.
Currently, no sister or staff member in the United States is infected with the virus. The safety and well-being of our sisters, covenant companions, staff, faith community, and visitors is our top priority. All non-essential personnel are working from home if possible. Essential personnel include those providing direct care for the well-being of the sisters living at the Motherhouse. We continue to strive to meet the needs of all our sisters, covenant companions, staff, faith community, and all our friends and supporters. To this extent, we have created a COVID-19 resource page. This resource page also includes links to livestreamed Sunday and Triduum Servies from Our Lady of the Angels Chapel. Please check back regularly for new inspiration and resources.
We will continue to evaluate the situation and keep you informed of changes. Thank you for patience and understanding as we take steps to protect one another from the spread of this virus. We encourage you to follow the guidance provided by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and your state Department of Public Health.
Please hold us in prayer as we continue to hold you in prayer during this time of uncertainty. Together may we continue to be a Blessing in the Heart of the World.
We are a community of vowed women (Sisters) and covenant (associate) women and men, whose mission is to live the Gospel following the spirit of St. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi, and our foundress Mother M. Clara Pfaender. We are a welcoming community of faith striving together to be instruments of peace, hope and justice in our world today. We invite you to join us as seekers – in prayer – in worship – in personal growth – in mission – in community.
What We Do
Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.
Preparing for Chapter 2020
In the name of the entire Province of St. Clare of the Franciscan Sisters, Daughters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, on this March 16, 2019, Sr. Melanie Paradis, Provincial Directress convoked Provincial Chapter 2020. This time of Pre-Chapter and Chapter allows us to focus again on our values as Wheaton Franciscans and to respond to the needs of our time.
As they announce peace with their lips, let them be careful to have it even more within their own hearts.
TOR Rule IX: 30
Your prayer concerns are important to us, as a network of faith connecting, prayer for and uplifting one another. When you submit a prayer request, it will be posted on our Prayer Board outside of Our lady of the Angels Chapel where you will receive prayer and encouragement from our community.
