The Wheaton Franciscan Sisters Corporation is situated on a 60-acre campus shared with Marianjoy Hospital/Northwestern. We are looking for one full-time groundskeeper. Our grounds staff are involved in maintaining the beauty of the campus and gardens, including a healing garden, rain garden, and extensive garden pond. The campus also has an approximate 3.5 acres of hand-planted prairies that require regular attention. We encourage grounds staff to implement their ideas in landscape design for the campus. Grounds staff work alongside top arborist contractors in care of a large variety of plants and maintenance of the campus. Exposure to top-of-the-line equipment is provided.
The groundskeeper also has responsibility for the maintenance and care of outlying residences where some of our religious sisters reside. The groundskeeper should possess landscape knowledge and abilities, including the planting of trees and shrubs, and flowers in various plant beds etc. Other regular duties include equipment maintenance on mowers (large, small), trimmers, tractors, hedge trimmers, etc. Staff perform preventative maintenance on grounds equipment, assist with snow removal including plowing snow from roadways and parking lots; using a hand shovel and/or snow blower to clear sidewalks and building entrances; spreads sand and/or salt as appropriate.
In addition, the groundskeeper must be comfortable using computer, keyboard, telephone, etc. Must be proficient in English and able to read manuals to follow instructions, can compose communication to provide updates to staff and leadership. Must have a valid Illinois driver’s license, be able to be on your feet the majority of the day and lift up to 40 lbs.
