New Vowed Membership

As Vowed Members our form of life is this: to observe the Gospel of Jesus Christ by living in obedience, chastity and poverty. We live community and seek to integrate contemplation and action so that our life becomes a blessing for ourselves and for those whom we serve. We understand that religious life is evolving. Each day we live anew this personal call and our response in faith as we try to be more like Christ.

Places of Service: Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, Colorado, Arizona, Italy, Brazil

Lifestyle: We take our inspiration from words that inspired St. Francis: "Go rebuild my church!" Our life is lived singly or in small groups of 2-5 women of varying ages. Our homes reflect our individual commitment to personal prayer, ongoing spiritual development, and every day loving community support.

Ministries: Our ministries are as diverse as the individual gifts that we each bring to community life. Our common commitment is Human and Community Development, to witness to the dignity and worth of all persons, to respect the sacredness of all life, and to create caring community wherever we find ourselves, with whatever talents and skills we may have. We sponsor a large Catholic healthcare and housing system dedicated to service to the poor.

Preparation Program: We welcome any woman who can love well, and is eager for a deeper commitment to a Franciscan way of life. Our discernment process is relational, and centered on the ability of the prospective candidate to thrive and to be happy in community with us. We consider every applicant individually and provide the best "getting to know you" process for each woman that we can. We ask interested women to take about a year to cultivate a mutual informal relationship with us and to complete our application process.

If you want to know God more deeply, to live simply, to build community, to grow personally and spiritually as a contemporary woman in God's church, we welcome your interest!
