Dinner & Dialogue with the Wheaton Franciscans: 2007
Franciscans and Incarnational Spirituality
Come and examine what we have in common with St. Francis and St. Clare in our world today! 2007 is the fifth year that we are presenting our four part series. We invite you to join us for the series on Mondays of February 26th, May 7th, August 6th and November 5th.
We recognize St. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi as persons who embraced the humanity of Christ and praised his divinity. Their personal relationship with a living God gave them profound insight and perspective that was grounded in God's love and understanding of themselves. They were able to perceive their call to live the Gospel life. In each of their lives, they uniquely became the “mirror of Christ.”
In the 13th century, the world of Francis and Clare was torn apart by war and strife.
This was particularly true of the Church. Francis saw through all this since his life was focused on the goodness of God. Francis’ relationship with God imbued all of his life with goodness. All of creation became his brothers and sisters.
Franciscan Spirituality is incarnational spirituality, a spirituality centered on God's living and loving presence in our world through Christ. Both Francis and Clare recognized that as gospel people they, too, were called to be people of justice, love and healing in the world. Their evangelical lives celebrated the birth of Christ, embraced his cross and witnessed through loving relationships and service to others. Come and examine what we have in common with Francis and Clare in our world today!
Join us for the evening. 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The dialogue will begin with a simple meal, followed by a prayer, engaging presentations and table discussions. The presenters are Wheaton Franciscans: Sisters, Covenant Members and guests; who are dedicated to making connections between Franciscan Spirituality and the issues and problems currently facing our society.
