Archives

The holdings of the Wheaton Franciscan Archives consist primarily of official (and unofficial ) files/documents generated in the ordinary conduct of the life and business of the members of the Congregation/Province.

These holdings are divided into the following categories:

• Congregation activities - beginning with the life of the foundress, Mother Clara Pfaender, in 1827
• Province activities -1873 to present
• Records: deceased sisters and former members, oral histories, published and unpublished documents, and ministry involvement
• Franciscan life (limited holdings)
• Church/canonical/diocesan affairs
• Inter-congregational connections: Franciscan Federation, Leadership Council of Women Religious, other collaborations
